Dancing with the Devil

Most people lead good lives, make the right choices, recognise the difference between right and wrong. Until they don’t. Until the day comes, and they make the wrong call leading them to dance with the devil. You don’t need to look at society’s underbelly to see human flaws. Most are hiding in plain sight. We look for the black and white explanation for the often unexplainable. The shouty media cycle demands an easy black and white story, the television and social media cycles demands a goodie and baddie, a villain, a hero and a victim and our perceptions shaped the result of a never-ending flow of tabloid headlines and moral simplification. Life is not like that. It’s not simple. It’s messy and complicated, morally complicated and often beyond our control. These are stories, of addiction, mental illness, crime and maybe redemption. Some might even be true.
